on Forbes' magazine's 2008 list of world billionaires.
These individuals have contributed to society but the concentration
of wealth hinders deeper level of competition in key industries. Their
wealth represents roughly 10% of the country's GDP.

Carlos Slim: telecom tycoon, Forbes: 2nd place (behind Warren Buffet and
in front of BillGates).
60 billion dollars (6% of Mexico's GDP). Controls about 73%
of mexico's cellphone market.He has stakes in an airline, a bank,
a construction company, department stores (including Sanborns),
restaurants, music outlets, and he sells insurance, auto parts, and
ceramic tiles.
Alberto Bailleres and Family: Owns holding company Grupo Bal,
which includes Industrias Penoles, department store Palacio de
Hierro and other insurance, financial and agricultural companies. His
father found ITAM, the top economic university. He is worth: $9.8 billion.
German Larrea Mota-Velasco and family: worth $7.3 billion. CEO of mining
company Grupo Mexico, the 3rd world's largets copper producer. He also
has a ?transportation business that includes the country's biggest railroad.
He sits on the boards of Grupo Banamex, Grupo Bursatil Mexicano,
Grupo Televisa, and Seguros Comercial America.
