The latest developments—a new conspiracy theory, a call-girl sub-scandal—haven’t really changed that. On the upside, it did bring Christine Lagarde to power.

Nicolas Sarkozy’s “Karachi Affair.” Though Sarko has called the “grotesque” allegations nothing but a “fairy tale,” he is widely suspected of involvement in a scheme to profit from the sale of submarines to Pakistan in the mid-nineties.
